Who We Are

At Big Red Digital, we are an experienced team of designers, developers and business people. We’re big enough to make significant impact on our clients across the world, but small enough to have an agile approach with our partners.

Find out more about the 30 year history of the company here.

Our History

1987

Accounting Software Consultants (ASC) was formed by Chic McSherry selling BOS Software finance systems to small businesses in Scotland.

1988

Tommy McLaughlin joined as a trainee in Software Support. He was our very first employee.

1989

Well known Scottish fashion chain store What Everyone Wants contracted us to develop a Purchase Order management system as well as software for a unique bulk bar-code reader solution for their sales tracking system.

1990

We spear-headed the development of the Strategix (Unix based) system by TIS Software, concentrating on Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order Processing, Job Costing and MRP2.

1991

We won our first US customer with Strategix software. MAX Controls were based in Pennsylvania and Tommy McLaughlin was promoted to Project Manager, spending almost 6 months on site developing a comprehensive production solution for MAX.

1992

We became a Sage reseller – eventually becoming one of the Top 5 resellers in the UK. We were also the first IT Company in the UK to be accredited Investor in People in this year.

1993

The name Accounting Software Consultants was becoming restrictive so we changed it to Prosys Business Solutions and we became one of the first adopters and resellers of CITRIX remote connectivity software.

1994

We sold and implemented a 1000+ desktop CITRIX solution throughout the UK for The Forestry Commission.

1995

We were re-accredited as an Investor in People.

1996

We became a Pegasus Accounting Software reseller throughout the UK.

1997

Chic McSherry set up a subsidiary in Melbourne Australia selling Strategix for TIS Software.

1998

Development started on our unique web-based solution for customer service using the Internet (at that time, all internet connection was by dial up modem!)/

1999

The Customer Service solution scope widened into a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system which was at the leading edge of available technology at that time and resulted in our flagship Enterprise Portal – iPort.

2000

We were heavily involved in resolving Millennium Bug issues across our entire client base and launched the iPort Enterprise Portal.

2001

We were re-accredited Investor in People and gained our first US client for iPort on 10th September – the day before the fateful 9/11 disaster.

2002

Work began on our Software as a Service product (before anyone called it SaaS) which we called iportInstant. This was a sign-up and go CRM solution, all web-based, and offered Sales, Service, Project and Document management at an affordable per user fee. The product attracted the involvement of Glasgow Caledonian University as a joint development project.

2003

Chic McSherry was seconded onto the Government Broadband Strategy Group and gave evidence in the Scottish Parliament.

2004

iPort Software Inc – a US Subsidiary – was created to sell the iPort Enterprise Platform and iportInstant into the US marketplace. Based in Houston Texas we soon secured major contracts from oil sector business due to the flexibility of the product and the depth of experience of our development team. Won the Enterprising Scotland Award this year.

2005

Chic McSherry was appointed eCommerce spokeperson for the Forum of Private Business and also seconded as an Agency Contact for the Bank Of England Regional Monetary Policy Committee. iPort Software Limited was created as a separate company within the Prosys group umbrella.
