Whip Your Website Into Shape For 2019
It’s the start of a new year and talk has inevitably turned to shedding any extra weight we put on indulging too much at Christmas. Naturally businesses are also reviewing what dead weight to eliminate in preparation for 2019.
One thing that should never be seen as carrying extra weight is your website. We recently analysed thousands of websites across Scotland and found that there are still key areas that businesses are failing to capitalise on, and so had a few lbs to shift. The main culprits are;
Websites that aren't mobile responsive
Up to 66% of search traffic comes from mobile devices, so if your website is slow to load, uses tired old technology (such as Adobe Flash) or doesn’t appear properly on a smaller screen, you have been sluggish in responding to quick changes in technology. This will make key information such as your contact details and enquiry forms difficult or impossible to find, which will frustrate your customer and encourage them to go to your competition.
Websites that don’t have current information
Businesses NEED to be flexible, therefore services are added and products are diversified over time. We discovered that companies don’t always have their updated offerings on their websites. This will mean that users searching for a particular product or service will not find you through Google. This makes you appear out of date to your customer base.
A news section that isn’t regularly updated
There is no clearer way to show people that you don’t care about what they think of you than having a news/blog on your website that isn’t up to date. Your news section is where you can showcase key achievements and developments and put more of a human aspect to your business. It also allows you to provide regular updates on your industry so you are seen as the leaders in your field. (On a side note, it also grows and strengthens your website, allowing Google more pages to index, making you more visible in searches, but that’s the subject of another post entirely!)
