I’ve been at Big Red Digital for two months now, and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know some of our existing clients, and meeting new and exciting prospective clients! I’ve learned a lot about software development, website development and digital marketing in that short time. It’s a fast-paced environment, with software rapidly updating and changing, and clients require a partner that can proactively lead them through these changes.

Design vs Development?

Traditionally in the industry, the perception has always been that there is a dichotomy between development and design. Design wants a website to be visually appealing, compelling, accessible and functional whilst following brand guidelines. Development wants to create (often complex) functionality using code to ensure the website carries out the instructions by the user.  It is often described as the right brain vs left brain, to create one working website.


I’m here to tell you that design vs development is not the whole story – what’s the point of having an attractive yet complex website, if it doesn’t compel anyone to use it, and doesn’t deliver a return for the website holder? There is a third overarching arm – sales! All websites need to drive users to buy or enquire or engage, otherwise they are not fulfilling their main function. At the heart of all design and development, it is imperative to put the user first. What will draw their eye? What will compel them to need more information? Why would they buy?

At Big Red Digital, we have the three arms of successful websites and software development covered. Most of our clients don’t need or want to understand the ins and outs of our Technical Teams and their capabilities. All of our clients do understand their business and revenue targets.
