Big Red Digital CEO, Chic McSherry Gets OBE

It is with great pride that we can announce that our CEO, Chic McSherry, has just been made an Officer of the Order of The British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. We're not usually big fans of TLAs (three letter acronyms) here, they only serve to confuse. However, this is one that we are absolutely delighted to hear and one that's recognised the world over.

The award is recognition of the incredible work that Chic does in Business education and services to the small business sector in Scotland. As well as his involvement with Big Red Digital, he has given his time freely over many years to several business related projects; from being a guest lecturer in Entrepreneurial Studies at Caledonian and Strathclyde Universities, to a 15 year stint as a Non-Executive Director at Lanarkshire Enterprise, to 20 years with Business Mentoring Scotland, amongst many others. 

In that time he has helped over 40 businesses to achieve their goals and reach their targets by personally mentoring their management teams. Lanarkshire Enterprise helps up to 1000 people a year achieve their dream of becoming their own boss.

“To say that I am surprised is an understatement” Chic said when he found out. “I don’t run marathons or swim the channel for charitable causes – this is pretty much all I can do to put something back. It is a huge honour and I plan to continue doing what I have been doing up until now, not because of this recognition, but because I really believe in it. And it is also great fun!”
