Innovation Without Risk

Ok...there's no such thing.

But you can minimise that risk and that is exactly what we have been doing for thirty years.

So how do you do that?

You have a unique idea to change your business in a way that will give you a clear advantage over your competition. New ideas always mean new software – if it was off-the-shelf your competition would do it too.

There is therefore a bond of trust: we are not writing software, we are a critical part of your business strategy and we must succeed. That is the risk for us both.

We use Agile Development techniques to build a Pilot that demonstrates accurately and decisively that your idea will work. We bring thirty years of business experience to bear on the problem. We won’t fail you.

Once the system is proven, the roll out can start. Strategy becomes operations.

The critical thing is control: you retain control of the process throughout.

On top of that, you own the Intellectual Property rights to the system we develop for you, we retain the IP on our Big Red Platform that delivers it.

Simple - no fuss - minimum risk.

Keep The Innovation

You will know about the importance of strong project management in IT projects and it is, of course, vital for success; but it is not so vital that every second has to be counted and every step has to be documented and every change to spec results in 6 meetings to get ratified.

That approach has the emphasis on management: what about Project Leadership? Isn't that why you hire a company like us? To take your strategic vision and lead the process of delivering it?

Regimented processes stifle innovation: HMRC couldn't have invented the iPhone.

Agility and flexibility is what is needed.

There are four founding principles to Agile Development:

  • Individuals and interactions are more important than processes and tools
  • Working software is more important than comprehensive documentation
  • Customer collaboration is more important than contract negotiation
  • Responding to change is more important than rigidly following a plan

We are Agile.

So Prove It!

It is always hard to prove that any software development project will deliver a result ahead of the code being written.

What we can do is point to our track record.

The quote on our Home Page from Graham Murdoch, for example, does not make clear that we have been writing software for SPAR Scotland now since 2001.

The NHS logo on our references page does not tell you that we have been producing code for them to enhance their internal finance, order processing, CRM, reporting, call-centre and field staff management systems since 1993.

In 2010 Virgin Trains asked us to combine five different train management software systems onto one dashboard; a solution that was priced at £500k from another, more "traditional", software house.

Organisations like those do not stick with partners that do not deliver.

"We have looked for ages for someone to do this but we've been told it is either impossible or too expensive."

We hear that a lot.

We beg to differ.
