When was the last time you updated your website?

When was the last time you actually looked at your website?

That may be a bit harsh, but we know from experience that a website is sometimes seen as a tickbox objective and then it's "what's next?"

Contrast that with how often the market leaders in your industry (in other words, your competitors) update, relaunch, reskin, rebrand theirs.

Let’s be clear: this is not about cosmetic makeovers; this is a systematic review and improvement process that is no different from having regular sales meetings with your field reps.

The number one give-away that you are not serious about your website is the blog. If the blog is not current and up to date then you are telling the world that you don’t have anything to say, and that even if you did, it wouldn’t be worth putting it on your website.

So at the very least you should be publishing regular news stories and updates to your website – just to let your customers know you are still alive if nothing else!

Not got anything new to say online? If not - why not?

Take The Test!

How often do you publish new content to your website?

Result

The short, and glib, answer to this is “every time you have something to say!”

However as we all know, some people don’t see the importance or value in what often seem mundane things that happen within your business and so it can take a bit of creative help to look at a scenario and extract the news value out of it.

It goes without say that new products, sales wins, new appointments etc. should all find their way onto the pages of your website.

You need to have a clear strategy for publishing updates and have someone responsible for making that happen on a regular basis.

You can be certain that at least one of your competitors is doing this effectively – why aren’t you?
