In sales training there is an old saw... Always Be Closing (ABC).

It's easy to remember so was served up as a mantra to all new sales staff.

Your website is selling something even if it is just an idea or information and at some point you will want the user to do something; in other words to buy into what you are offering.

A lot of websites are heavy on worthy arguments and information but light on asking the user to do something about it. No ABC in other words.

We are not having a pop at anyone here (sometimes the site owner has a definite idea about the site that they want after all) but...

Here is an example from a very well-known author that is selling… what?

Why spend all that money on a website, spend even more to attract traffic to it, provide all that free information to users… and then not ask them to do what you want them to do?

It’s all about the numbers game: the more leads you generate the more sales you convert.
